How to install Masonry & Concrete Anchors / FUAO fastener

We have here a mosonry clock, we filled it with concrete already, Basically to facilitate this video, I have here different types of masonry anchors. We pre-drilled all the holes already,
we will show you the drop in anchor, wedge anchor, sleeve anchor and a nail masonry hammer anchor-one of lag shield. 

We need a bunch of tools here, that you're going to need for each one of these types of anchors, but for all of them, we're gonna need a hammer drill with the proper bit which in this case is an SDS plus. These hammer drills make job so much easier. We also have an hammer for all these basically, Almost every masonry needs a hammer, Phillips drive screwdriver and open end wrenches. Along with a setting tool for the drop in anchor. All these are gonna be used individually for these individrual anchors application.

1. Application drop in anchor.
Basically a drop in anchor is made up of a smooth surface with a knurled portion down here with these slits in the steel to allow the lower part of the anchor to expand, Inside there is a pin that we'll driving in, after we drop in into the hole, that we will set with this set tool. This set tool basically goes in and then we strike the top of this.after we strike it, you won't pull this out anymore. This will be fixed in the concrete. Once you put these is,there's no taking them out. You're going to need the drop in anchor, the hole to be drilled, and you're gonna need a hammer, 
Let's drop the anchor in, before taking a tool, we can pur the screw in this and we can pull it out. That's the nice thing about drop in anchor, that you can drop them in, also make sure your hole is clean of any debris. I'm gonna take the set tool and put it inside the anchor, strike it. Then you get a solid sound all of a sudden which basically just set anchor in place, So if you took a screw and put it in there, you can no longer pull this out anymore. Whatever you are fastening to the concrete with a drop in anchor, it could be this piece of wood, this is just for demonstraction, Fastened. 

2. Install this wedge anchor,

They all it a wedge anchor because it has this wedge at the bottom, then it has this shield over the wedge that will wedge in the lower wedge. As you tighten this up, this will pull on that shield. You have to bang these in, Once you bang this in past this point, you're not gonna back it out again. So the only way to get rid of a wedge anchor after you have put it in place, is to take a hacksaw or a sawzall and just cut it off. so let's me demonstrate now how to install a wedge anchor. You can also see on the top here they have this section unthreaded. we do that for a reason, when you use the hammer, and this is a tool you're gonna need, you're also going to need an open end wrench or a ratchet wrench with a socket on it, when you strike this with a hammer that it's not going to damage the threads.
Year ago they used to have the threads run all the way to the top, now they make it like a bull nose as they would call, that area that you see no threads on the shank, Now I'm just gonna hammer this down, That triggers, it's hit the bottom, you hear that solid sound, so it's hit the bottom, you're not gonna pull this out any further.
However, when I do start to tighten it's gonna lift the wedge on the bottom of the wedge anchor into the sleeve, then it's gonna tighten and expand that sleeve and it's not going to come out.

3. install the sleeve anchor,

A sleeve anchor is basically a wedge anchor at the bottom here, you can see the wedge and it has a sleeve on it. This sleeve has slits in it and it also have these cross cuts in the bottom here. these cross cuts are what grip the concrete when you install it. This wedge down below, once it's in place, pulls up into this area. you can see the slit and the steel that will allow it to expand. That's basically how a sleeve anchor operates It's pretty simple methodology. you can install it this way. You need a hammer to install along with an open end wrench or a socket wrench or a ratchet to install this. Then it engages and locks down the sleeve to the outside. 


4. how do install this hammer drive anchor?
Once you put these in, there's no taking them out.  
Basically these hammer drive anchors have a split down the center here, that you can see, once this pin drives down it spreads that lower portion of the anchor, These are mainly uesd in applying plywood to concrete floors. 
We put it through the material and then you're gonna drive this pim down, When I drive this pin down, it's gonna to spread and it's gonna lock that piece of wood  in place.  You are see I drove that head down below the surface of the block. So if you put wood flooring on top of this plywood instead of purtting it on concrete.
